Amber Suprano
Lights…cameras…Places everyone! We go live in three…two…and we're on. The New Kensington Middle School weekly news broadcast, brought to the students live from the second floor newsroom, is underway. A short time later they complete yet another successful broadcast and the flurry of activity subsides for another week. Amber Suprano, an eighth grader, is one of the anchors responsible for bringing the student body news of important school events and sports activities. Although she doesn't write the material herself, she is accountable for presenting it each week to the other students via closed circuit TV. This is her second year working with the news broadcast, and she loves it!

Besides her media career, Amber spent last year on the softball team and held a position on this year's volleyball team. With practice and hard work, the volleyball team ended the season with a 9-6 record. Amber really enjoyed the experience and hopes to play on the team next year as well.

Amber's thoughtful and considerate character places great importance on helping others and being involved in the school community. She uses these qualities in her participation with the school's peer-mentoring group and works with students twice a week during 8th period. She assists them with their homework and helps them study for tests. Amber also serves in student council as the treasurer. There she has been able to do workshops and help out with teacher appreciation day and other activities.

Amber is also very active in her church, the First United Presbyterian Church in New Kensington. She has been attending Confirmation classes and is in the church's youth group as well. Besides the classes, the youth group also goes on outings with other people in the church. When she isn't busy with these activities, she likes to hang out with her friends and work on the computer. She also looks forward to summer vacation with her family each year. They usually go to Ocean City, Maryland.

Amber and her family live in New Kensington.
