Laura Corry
Our dreams begin when we are small children. Our childhood aspirations and thoughts are consumed with what we will do when we "grow up," the belief that we can do anything and the desire to try. Even greater than dreaming is the ability to see your dream become a reality.

Laura Corry, a senior at Freeport High School, has always had interests in writing, current events, politics, and public relations. Laura has had a lot of experience in writing with her position as editor of the Freeport High School newspaper. She hopes to be able to work on the college's newspaper as well. Her responsibilities as editor include assigning articles, proof reading, doing the layout of the paper and writing a column. She also loves to write poetry and hopes to one day become published. She would like a career in broadcasting and would love to be another Barbara Walters.

Like any fine journalist, Laura does things outside of writing and juggles a busy schedule. She is very involved in many school programs and holds positions in several clubs. She is the President of the Key Club, Treasurer of Student Council, Chairman of the school blood drive, and is a member of the National Honor Society. Her involvement in the Key Club has given her opportunity to serve the community through various projects. Some of them include helping with a coat drive, community Easter egg hunt, and Kiwanis spaghetti dinner.

Another of her interests is in theater. Laura was Daisy May in the school's production of Lil Abner and recently got a part in a production called "Down Town" at the Old Bank Theatre in Natrona Heights. She is also very musically talented and has played the piano for seven years.

Laura is an incredibly talented individual who excels at whatever she has put her hand to. She will be going to Ohio State University in the fall where she will major in journalism and minor in political science. I don't think that Laura will find the need to step into the shoes of Barbara Walters; she is sure to make her own set of tracks. Laura lives in Freeport with her parents Peggy and David Corry.
