Plum, November 14, 2005

Plum players Paul Paradise, Ben Fecik and Jon Fisher work for position while awaiting Michael McDade's throw-in. Fisher headed the ball past the Cathedral keeper for the first goal of the game.
The game was tied 2 - 2 as time was running out in Plum's PIAA Class AAA quarterfinal against Erie Cathedral Prep at Karns City Saturday evening. The high powered Mustang offense continued to create scoring opportunities against the exhausted Cathedral defense which was determined not to concede another goal. But then a Rambler defender committed a crucial error getting called for a handball just outside the box. Michael McDade scored off the ensuing free kick with 54 seconds to play to lift Plum to its 18th consecutive victory and a 3-2 win.

McDade also assisted on the first goal 20 minutes into the game when his throw in was headed over the Erie keeper and into the net by Senior Sweeper Jon Fisher. Plum's other goal was scored by Paul Paradise who calmly left-footed the ball into the top left corner of the goal from 15 yards out just before halftime to give the Mustangs a 2-1 lead.

Erie Cathedral Prep scored a few minutes into the second half setting up McDade's heroics in the final minute.

With the victory Plum improved its record to 22-1-1 and advances to play West Chester Henderson in the semifinals on Tuesday at a site and time that has not yet been announced.

Go Mustangs !!!
