Freeport Theatre Festival presents “Massey Harbison”, written and directed by Rennick Steele. Inspired by the “Captivity Narrative of Massey Harbison”, this historical drama recreates the life of a genuine pioneer heroine, a Freeporter, who with grit, determination and faith survived captivity by renegade warriors near present-day Freeport, and lived to found a great American family.

Dave Harbison, artist and great, great, great grandson of Massey Harbison will share his collection of scrimshaw and other objects of frontier art at the theatre.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, July 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27 and August 1, 2, and 3. Extra performances are offered as part of Freeport’s 175th Anniversary Celebrations the week of July 26th through August 3rd. Tickets are $12 and $10 at the theatre located next to the The Steele Farm, Allegheny Township, two miles southeast of Freeport, off of Route 356, on White Cloud Road (by Allegheny Presbyterian Church)

There is a pre-theatre dinner at the River Forest Country Club with seating at 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Reservations are a must and may be made by calling 724-295-2298.
